"...a remote and inspiring wilderness habitat "

About Us - General Information

A vision from 25 years ago enables us to experience this place of wonder...

Situated in the North West corner of Arnhemland and adjacent to Kakadu National Park and Coburg Peninsula in Australia’s Northern Territory lies a vast sub-tropical savannah. It has been described as a national treasure trove depicting ancient human occupation, and a pristine wilderness area hosting a myriad of ecosystems and wildlife inhabitants.

Davidson's Arnhemland Safaris began operating 25 years ago when the traditional owners of the area approached Max and his late wife Philippa Davidson in regards to the possibility of a tourism venture at Mt Borradaile. From humble beginnings when Max and Philippa worked alone, the lodge has evolved over the years to provide a comfortable and relaxed atmosphere in the bush. We are now able to offer the level of accommodation and facilities that complement this unique wilderness experience.

Intense media interest has resulted in television documentaries and magazine articles featuring the Mt Borradaile region of Arnhemland reaching a worldwide audience.

Entry to one of the most restricted areas of Australia is by permit only, arranged prior to your arrival.

Access to the safari lodge is either by scenic flight from Darwin (one hour) or Jabiru (half hour) or by 4wd during the dry season (May-October). Drive time from Darwin is approximately 5 hours.

Since Government intervention NO ALCOHOL is permitted to be brought into Arnhemland. The lodge is fully licensed and has a wide selection of wines, spirits and beer.
